Hi all, sorry it has again been forever! We have been focusing more on making you tube videos but I decided today set up an website that would let me dedicate time to posting the you tube videos and putting my thoughts down and out of my head. Let's see how long it lasts this time! lol
So the last I posted we had tried the Connections Academy and it wasn't going well. I am pretty certain the day I posted that was the same day that we dropped out! It just didn't work for us.
Little Waffles (the tween girl) is now known by 'Waffles' it is her name at the gym so we will just stick with that here. She is currently training for level 7 in gymnastics but mentally and physically is having challenges so who knows what will happen there. She is obviously still diabetic but a few months ago we got a Dexcom continuous glucose monitor and it has really improved her control of the diabetes.
Baby Waffles is definitely no longer a baby. He is now 8 (how did that happen?????) He still doesn't really want to do anything but play games and make videos. He wants to be a you tuber when he grows up. Hey I have seen the stats, if the market doesn't go away I don't have a problem with that! He tried soccer and lasted all of 20 minutes (maybe, if that?) We are looking to put him in cub scouts but just haven't gotten our act together to do it yet. His speech, oh my gosh he has improved soooo greatly! He has FINALLY gotten one of his top two teeth which were pulled out when he was 3 and the other is just about to pop through. I honestly believe with those teeth coming in he may very likely graduate out of speech by the end of this school year. I will miss his therapist but I will be THRILLED!
As for Daddy Waffle, he is still protecting the city (our own little Batman, maybe??) He will be retiring in a few (6 or so) years so we are trying to rework our lives so we can live a cash life with no debt. I will be posting more about that as we get in a better place with setting it up and knowing what we are doing.
Then there is me, Mommy Waffle. I am trying to balance, a growing travel agency business, developing a budget, teaching these crazy kids and schlepping Waffles to all her gymnastics. It's a tough busy life but most days I love it.
Oh and in the middle of it all I really am trying to lose like 100 lbs but who knows when that will happen!
So anyway that is our life these days. I don't think I have enough interesting to post DAILY but I will try to post at least weekly, more when there are things to post about. In the mean time we try to post videos on our you tube channel a least weekly sometimes more depending on what we find to post about. Please come check it out at www.youtube.com/channel/UCxXdtwCjs9JNW3sZ7rvK8ng
We would love if you would like (if you do), comment (if you'd like) and please subscribe so you can keep up with all our fun!!!

It's time I started planning
Hi World! Sorry I haven't been around, I have been focused on my diet blog. School kind of fell off the radar for awhile when Little Waffle ended up in the hospital and we found out she has diabetes (for anyone who reads this and didn't already know) So now we are back on track school has started and we are going full swing. I did opt to put Latin on the back burner until fall, we just have toooo much going on for right now.
So what I have decided to do until I have more things to talk about is to start menu planning. I keep saying I need to menu plan but since Little Waffle was diagnosed I have found it really is essential. So here is my first stab at it. I know most people do Menu Plan Monday but I don't know about anyone else around these parts we eat on Sunday too! So my meal plans will actually be for two weeks from Sunday to Friday(the Saturday after pay day we generally end up getting food out or take out.)
Sunday 9/16
filet of beef with potatoes
in the crock pot
Monday 9/17
I have a season packet that I will put on a whole cut up chicken that you then roast in the provided bag with long grain rice
Tuesday 9/18
hamburger helper
Wednesday 9/19
Church
Thursday 9/20
Easy Slow Cooker chicken
( a recipe I found on a diabetic website) with some noodles
Friday 9/21
tater tot casserole
Saturday 9/22
grill out
Sunday 9/23
Chuck roast steak in crock pot with potatoes
Monday 9/24
Chicken and dumplins in crock pot
Tuesday 9/25
beef stew
Wednesday 9/26
Church
Thursday 9/27
hamburger helper
Friday 9/28
Downtown
These menus will hopefully improve after 10/5 when I can actually enjoy the food as well but in the meantime this is the best I have since I don't get to even eat!!!!

Summer is over!
Well here at Carolina Classical Academy our summer is coming to a close. We will be starting classes on Monday. I am trying very hard to finish up my prep work so I am ready to go but it isn't looking so great! (we were going to start this week but....)
We will be starting:Right Start Math level C
All About Spelling level 3
Prima Latina
Writing With Ease level 2
First Language Lessons level 2
Life of Fred- Butterflies, Cats and possibly Dogs
Story of the World-The Middle Ages
Elemental Science
and Handwriting without Tears 3rd grade (cursive)
I am very excited to get started on this year. We will basically go right through with no days off until Thanksgiving at which time we will wrap things up for the year pretty much and start back up after Christmas. We will be surprising Little Waffle with a trip to Disney World (SHHHH no one tell her!) I can't wait!
This weekend in the mean time we will be so busy. Our semi-annual huge consignment sale is next week so I am busy busy busy pricking, hanging and tagging my items. The Sunday we are going to a reptile exhibition show to buy Little Waffle a bearded dragon. We have promised her a new pet since her leopard gecko from Santa died 3 months after Christmas.
That is all for now, hopefully I will update by next Friday with how our first week goes!

a little summer break
I have not forgotten this wonderful blog, I have just been more focused on my weight loss blog and not to mention Carolina Classical Academy (our home school) is officially on summer break. We are taking the month of July off and will start with Little Waffle's grade 2 year in August. I am taking this month to do lesson planning and to figure exactly where we want to go this school year.
As soon as I figure it all out, I will come share with the world what we will be studying.
On a Baby Waffle note, I am in a very frustrated place with his speech situation. The state agency that has been helping us with his speech has a strict policy that he must receive his services in the 'least restrictive environment' which for us means in our house. However everyone fully agrees this is NOT working for him. Well I have found out that other people who have insurance that helps with the cost have been seen in the office. Now it turns out since switching agencies we have to cover part of the cost. I am not upset at having to pay a part however if I am paying WHY can we not go to the clinic first of all and secondly WHY did I get a bill for FIVE months of services at ONE time. I have put a call into the agency to look into these issues but in the mean time I am taking my search elsewhere. I live within 45 minutes of two of the best University hospitals in the country, to be sure there is some sort of program that will help us really get some where with his problems!

big things are happening!
Tomorrow my stepson will be married! It is so hard to believe that boy I met 10 years ago is old enough to be getting married but he is. He is marrying his college sweetheart and they will be setting off on their life together. I wish them well and hope for and wonderful event FREE weekend (as his mother is a basket case!!)

The Waffles go camping...DAY 2
What a difference a day makes!!! The sun came out and dried up all the rain giving us a chance to spend some time out by the ocean. The kids had a blast even though it was still wayyyy too cold to really get in the water.
we decided to go have some dinner and visit some shops before once again returning to the campsite for a fire and s'mores. Baby Waffle was again running from his shadow and this time I was able to catch it on camera!
And
I will wrap up our adventure next time!!!!!

the Waffles go camping...
Day 1: EPIC FAIL!
so we are camping in a tent at the Myrtle Beach state park first day down it starts raining like itts never going to stop, the tent was leaking, everyjing was just wet! We were able to get in a quick walk on the beach and we were able to start a fire. The fire was the highlight of the night, Baby Waffle discovered his shadow! At first we couldn't figure out what the heck he was doing. He kept backing up in an odd way. By the time I figured out what he was doing and got the camera he had stopped but just trust me it was funny!
By about 4 am I was just through! Ready to pack it in and come home. I was sooooo tired of the rain but thankfully we stuck it out....next time, day 2!

long crappy week
Well it has been a really tough week which is why I haven't posted in a while. Baby Waffle is feeling under the weather and I have to admit that this coupled with his frustration from the speech issues is really starting to weigh on me. He was up all night the night before last(a first in a long time) and he cried the whole time. Needless to say I am still exhausted. Baby Waffle is sop tired he took two naps for the first time in a long time yesterday and then today he woke up around 7 and was back down for a nap by 10...who knows what today will bring.
In the mean time between speech, soccer, kindermusik, enrichment day, and gymnastics I have been finding it hard to balance school work too. I have been following a blog for awhile now that has a focus on working with a child Baby Waffle's age that I am starting to think has what I need to get balance. I am going to spend time trying to see how to impliment her ideas and hopefully that will get us some balance. (I will post a link to her site when I am at my computer instead of on my phone.
Lastly update on my school work not much to day here, with everything else going on I don't know where to find time when I am not tired BUT I do have a thesis committee so I guess that is something.
So that's it for now. I hope to have more to say more regularly. Until then...ttfn

Quietly bawling...

I am sitting in my quiet living room surrounded by Little Waffle's morning mess with Baby Waffle snoring away in my lap. I decided to take this time to try to catch up in my blogs that I have let built up, over 200 I am afraid. Anyway, the one I read first is from another home school mom who suffered the worst of all tragedies last fall when a dresser fell on her small son and he died. Many of her posts since then have made me heart sick and yes many brought tears to my eyes but his birthday was this week, he should have been two. The family celebrated his short life in a way I don't think I could but in their tragedy I actually found a little peace. I was bawling for the loss they have to deal with but also for Baby Waffle's issues and that was when I realized it can no doubt be worse. So I dried my tears and managed to accomplish a minor miracle.....Baby Waffle is taking his nap in his VERY OWN BED. (For maybe the second time in 6 months!!!
Not to teach little waffle some phonics and math!!
edited to add, Baby Waffle lasted in his own bed for about 45 minutes but then slept another 1 plus in my bed.......well, it is a start anyway!

[ice cream is the devil]
Today was a great day at our school. Little Waffle got so much work done. I am very proud of her. We managed two days worth of handwriting and math (more about math in a few)and one day of phonics. We are still runni.g a bit behind in history but I am not pushing that cause let's face it she is still young. We are trying to work on a lapbook about shells for science but I find myself a little creatively challanged and I am not sure I quite get how to do the lapbooks.
Back to math. I am really excited about math. We FINALLY got a curriculum to work with and so far I love it. We are starting at the beginning of Right Start math. It is very basic to the point I think we will finish book A very quickly but I wanted to start at the beginning so we learn the right methods.
My last point of interest from today is I am excited because I got picjedyo be a Purex Insider. I am not even sure what all it means yet but I feel like I have been acknowledged as a blogger!( corny I know but still...lol)
Well I guess that is all for tonight. Ttfn

tough day
Well for starters my little climbing monkey was at it again and pulled a stool down on his head. Up comes yet another goose egg!
Then I go to Harris Teeter where it turns out the have ice cream buy 2 get three FREE( I know I know like o need that much ice cream. ) apparently I didn't think I needed it either because I left two cartons in the store! Now I am home eating like a pig.
on the other hand we got back on track with school now that food the most part we are healthy and little Waffle got started in gymnastics. She was so excited and did really well for her first day.
Oh and just as an aside I sent my wii in for repairs so no weigh in until I get it back.

weigh in day
I was all ready to title this post weigh in wednesday cause it sounds so catchy but then I realized duh, its Tuesday. I still will post my weigh in info since I did weigh. I can't believe I have to actually post a number this high but it is what it is so I guess to get it down I have to own it, right. I weighed in today at 257.7. That is down .2 since the last time I weighed but it is still higher than I have ever been even at the time of delivering either child.
So my short term goal for the week is simply one pound and no snacking after 7 pm (8 at the latest if dinner runs late) also to get exercise in at least 3 times.

a day at our school
Today started getting a little rough so I thought a few pictures of us actually working were in store! Along with one that explains why things started looking up!
We had fallen a bit behind having to leave for kindermusik and science class yesterday so not only did we play catch up but also Little Waffle was so eager to do extra in her handwriting that I decided to go insane and do tomorrows assignments too. Tomorrow is payday and we need some serious groceries so this will give us more time to get that done.
On a side note, yesterdays local groupon was for a haircut from a day spa for $20. ($48 value) I have decided I can't use it until I lose 10lbs so it will be a treat of sorts for me. So please keep on me to keep me on track. I need to lose 10 from tomorrow because I didn't weigh today so I don't really have a starting point. :)
Well I am off to relax( as much as I can with laundry about to bury me....)
